2. Graduation Ceremony

It was a very good shiny day on the 28th April 2015. The University of Pretoria was having its graduation ceremony honouring the Faculty of Theology. The programme started at 15h00. Professor L.W. Nkuhlu constituted the assembly. He was followed by the Dean of the Faculty of Theology: Professor J. Buitendag who introduced two candidates to receive the Chancellor’s Medals. The first candidate was Reverend Thabo Cecil Makgoba, Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Cape Town (the youngest successor to Bishop Jongokhulu Ndungane and Bishop Desmond Tutu. The second candidate was the Moderator of Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk, Reverend Dr Frederick Swanepoel who once hosted Dr Nelson Mandela in their 1994 synod.

Degrees and diplomas were conferred by Professor J. Buitendag. The Evangelical Presbyterian Church students were part of this ceremony.

He was accompanies by his sisters and elders from Zululand Parish.

He was accompanied by his Mom and Dad from West Rand (Kagiso).

Reverend Risenga Amos Mathebula (Bachelor of Arts Honours in Theology)
He is a resident Minister of Valdezia Parish and accompanied by his wife and children.
He did his honours degree in “Dogmatics and Chistian Ethics (Sytematic Theology, specializing in Liberation Theology.
His research topic was:”The Mourning Rituals among VaTsonga Woman: A Black Theological Response”.
Reverend Hundzukani Portia Khosa-Nkatini of North East Presbytery (Masters of Arts in Practical Theology, Liturgy Studies)

She was accompanied by her parents and sister.
Her research topic was:”Developing more inclusive liturgy praxis for the Evangelical Church in South Africa”
