Prof. DL Mosoma Profile
Professor David Luka Mosoma is a Christian Theologian. He is the Deputy Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in South (2007 to date) and Moderator of the Tshwane Presbytery (2004 to date). He joined and served the EPCSA as a Minister of Religion since 1974 serving the following parishes:
- N'wamitwa and Masana Parish – 1974; and
- Phelindaba Parish: 1975 - 1985 & 1992 to date. He established the Tshwane Central Congregation in 2003.
He was also appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice Principal: Student Affairs and Learner Support at the University of South Africa (Unisa) from 01 October 2006 to date. He initially served as a Vice-Principal: Planning and Research and was latter appointed as Vice Chancellor and Vice Principal: Operations on 10 December 2003.
He holds a Certificate in Theology, Fedsem-Alice; BTH Honours, Unisa; Master of Theology and Doctor of Philosophy, Princeton University, USA.
His publication and areas of interest are on i) Justice, peace, reparation and restitution; ii) Search for liberating ethics and moral regeneration; iii) Spiritual healing; iv) race, racism, discrimination and xenophobia; and v) Biblical hermeneutics: an Afrocentric perspective
In addition to all these positions, Professor Mosoma has been actively involved in a number of business and community initiatives. He founded both the Society for Creative Community in Atteridgeville and the Atteridgeville and Saulsville Civic Association, and is the current Chairperson of the Pelindaba Youth Brass Band.
He is an active member of the African National Congress and also serves as Member of the Board of Directors of the Moral Regeneration Movement. He was recently appointed by Executive Mayor, Gwen Ramokgopa to head the four-person inquiry investigating, and reporting with recommendations on the cause of the fire to ascertain whether there was a risk management plan for effecting the eviction orders.
Prof Mosoma is married to Hlamalani Salome Mosoma for over 30 years, and blessed with three children Khanyisa, Itumeleng & Candida.
He is a passionate music love, especially horn or instrumental music.
